Workshop on career transition in dance – 26 September 2026

This workshop is aimed at dance professionals in French-speaking Switzerland who wish to reflect on the current realities of their careers and the challenges of career transition.
It offers a forum for discussion, combining first-hand accounts from the field with practical insights, with a view to exploring new perspectives on career transitions within the arts sector.
In collaboration with Danse Suisse
A two-stage approach
The first part of the training will be led by freelance dancer and choreographer Renaud Wiser, whose international career offers a rich insight into the realities of the profession.
Having recently returned to Switzerland and become a father, he will discuss the challenges of managing a multifaceted artistic career: organising one’s work, managing energy levels, balancing work and family life, and sharing responsibilities.
In the second part, Sara Marini Buncic will shed light on career transition and the initial stages of a career change.
The session will cover the steps to take, funding opportunities, available resources (including psychological support), as well as an overview of existing schemes in Switzerland and internationally. An overview of the profiles and training programmes supported by Danse Transition will round off this section.
Training objectives
This event aims to equip dance professionals with the tools they need to manage their careers, taking into account changes in their personal lives, the realities of the profession and long-term prospects.
